Thailand: Newest Initiative for a Newer Club
There's lots of newness coming from Operation Smile Thailand: One of its newest clubs, which started just this year, has stepped up to run one of Global Student Programs' newest endeavors.
From Aug. 30-31, five high schoolers from the club at Mahidol University International Demonstration School conducted oral health care workshops for our youngest patients attending the "Cleft Camp" in Khon Kaen province. The twist? They hosted the session with our new Align Scholar Kits, a set of materials and donations (such as toothbrushes and toothpaste) provided by Operation Smile's longtime partner Align Technology.
This is the newest Student Programs initative Align has supported. Align, which is known for its Invisalign clear aligners, has worked alongside Operation Smile for more than a decade, committing over $1.6 million to its International Student Leadership Conference (ISLC), in addition to supporting care for patients around the world.
In addition to teaching the fundamentals of healthy dental habits, the student team also set up an interactive game station, where they engaged with patients and families and shared service project items collected during ISLC 2025. Hosted in partnership with the Tawanchai Foundation, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, the Cleft Camp served 53 patients aging betweed 10 and 18 years old.
